Heading south by road, you’ll discover the often-overlooked treasures of El Minya, including the brightly coloured tombs of Beni Hassan and the haunting ruins of Tell el-Amarna — the short-lived capital of the heretic pharaoh Akhenaten.
Continue to Abydos and Dendera, two of Egypt’s most evocative and richly decorated temple complexes, before arriving in magnificent Luxor for the Valley of the Kings, Karnak, and Hatshepsut Temple. The tour concludes dramatically in Aswan and at the colossal twin temples of Abu Simbel — the pinnacle of Ramses II’s architectural ambition.
