When does the cruise depart?

The MS Amwaj Living Stone departs every Monday from Aswan.

Yes, all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are included on a full-board basis throughout the cruise.

Can children join the cruise?

Yes. Children aged 0–5.99 travel free, children 6–11 pay 50% of the adult price, and those 12 and above pay the full adult rate.

Are drinks included with meals on the MS Amwaj Living Stone?

While your package covers full-board gourmet meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), beverages ordered in the main restaurant or at the lounge bars are billed separately to your cabin tab. Complimentary tea, coffee, and water are provided in your cabin daily, and you are welcome to bring your own bottled drinks on board from local shops along the way.

Departing every Monday from Aswan, this voyage takes you through the heart of ancient Egypt as you sail from Aswan down to Luxor, visiting the most spectacular pharaonic temples and monuments along the way.

Your journey begins with the awe-inspiring temples of Abu Simbel, carved out of a mountain by Ramses II, before moving to the serene island setting of Philae Temple. Cruise past the engineering marvel of the Aswan High Dam, then drift gently northward to the twin temples of Kom Ombo and the remarkably preserved Temple of Edfu.

Your cruise culminates in Luxor, the world’s greatest open-air museum, where you’ll explore the Valley of the Kings, the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and the grand Karnak Temple complex.

Day 1: Monday | Aswan Highlights

Once arrival in Aswan, an EgyptianTrips representative will assist you with embarkation on your Nile Cruise.

Philae Temple

Dedicated to the goddess Isis, Philae Temple was one of the last temples built in the classical Egyptian style. Construction began around 690 BC, and it remained one of the final strongholds of the ancient Egyptian religion.

The High Dam

The Aswan High Dam is one of Egypt’s greatest modern engineering achievements. Built between 1960 and 1968 and officially inaugurated in 1971, it created the vast Lake Nasser and plays a vital role in Egypt’s irrigation and electricity supply.

The Unfinished Obelisk

Located in the Northern Quarries of Aswan, the Unfinished Obelisk offers fascinating insight into ancient stone-cutting techniques. Had it been completed, it would have weighed approximately 1,168 tons, making it the largest obelisk ever created.

Afternoon Felucca Ride

At approximately 16:00, enjoy a traditional felucca sailing trip around Elephantine Island and visit the beautiful Kitchener’s Island Botanical Garden.

Early Morning Excursion to Abu Simbel

Abu Simbel Temples

The magnificent temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari were carved directly into the mountainside between 1274 and 1244 BC.

The Great Temple is dedicated to Ramses II, Ra-Horakhty, Amun-Ra, and Ptah, while the smaller temple honors Queen Nefertari and the goddess Hathor.

The relocation of these temples during the construction of the Aswan High Dam remains one of UNESCO’s greatest archaeological rescue projects.

Lunch: Lunch will be served on board.

Visit the unique double temple dedicated to two deities:

Sobek, the crocodile god
Horus the Elder, the falcon-headed god

The temple dates primarily to the Ptolemaic and Roman periods.

Built primarily by Amenhotep III and later expanded by Tutankhamun and Ramses II, Luxor Temple was one of ancient Egypt’s most important religious centers.
